The Mount Barker District Concert Band was established in January 1994 by Mr Bob Size, and the band’s first public appearance was the Anzac Day Dawn Service the same year.

In 1999 Barry Wilkins OAM was appointed Musical Director and provided the band with many opportunities for performances throughout the region and state. Barry retired as Musical Director in March 2012.

Karen Redman OAM is the Band’s current Musical Director and brings a fresh approach to both repertoire and performance.

With a current membership of around 35 musicians of all ages and abilities, the Concert Band performs everything from classical to rock to pop and ballads.

The Mount Barker Big Band was formed in 2009 to provide additional musical opportunities for band members. The Big Band performs a wide range of music from swing classics to big band interpretations of popular hits.

Both the Concert Band and the Big Band are always on the lookout for new members — you will not find a friendlier group of musicians anywhere!
